There are several writing workshops and conferences that Brenda recommends. Here are links to some of them. They each represent good value for the money in fun, adventure, and learning. Most of them are accessible to serious beginners. 

Key West Literary Seminar. The setting here as well as the famous authors are an inspiration. 

The Squaw Valley Community of Writers holds a summer workshop in Olympic Village in Squaw Valley, California. Extremely well run and very beneficial
